By the time New Year rolls around you may be suffering from Holiday fatigue. After you have cooked, cleaned and hosted your way through the Holiday season, you deserve a break. New Year’s is a great excuse to go out and celebrate with your friends but sometimes you may want to spend it at home due to many reasons. For example, some events carry a high price tag.
If you want to strike a balance between fun and frugality try these unconventional New Year’s Eve activities instead. One New Year superstition says that what you do to celebrate the Holiday will represent the type of year you can expect to have.
1.) Minute-to-win-it Game Night
You can always enjoy time square activities from the comfort of your home. If you don’t watch Minute-to Win-It on a regular basis, then you can enjoy it more on NYE. A little bit later in the evening, once programs like the Dick Clark special, come on T.V have that in the background of your celebration at home. They usually have some cool performances and singers on there as well. And you want to make sure that you have that up and ready when the ball is about ready to drop. So, you can do the countdown and feel like you’re really in the spirit with everyone.
2.)Get Some Party and Decoration stuff at Home
So, it’s just about the time for New Year’s and you are thinking “how am I going to celebrate because I’m not going out to all the parties!?” Well, you have come to the right place in this article because we are discussing how you can celebrate New Year’s Eve at home. Get some party hats…you are going to want to make it fun and festive since you are not going out!
Get some party stuff and decorate your home and improve it. Make sure you, of course, have champagne on hand because you are going to want to toast once it strikes midnight. If it’s just you or you are with family, you want to make it festive and enjoy it.
Also, you might even want to get some sparklers and firework. You can do those on the front yard, shoot those off your smart home and feel the New Year starting!
You can also buy some snacks, Video games, VRs and things you like. You don’t have to feel guilty about eating ten bags of Junk food.
3.)Elegant Dinner at Home with your Spouse
Just because you’re at home doesn’t mean you have to forgo an exquisite evening! Order in or pick-up from a nice restaurant, wear a suite, place candles (everywhere) and dance to some classical music!
If you are a chef in training (or meal connoisseurs, as I call them) then prepare a toast for you and your significant other! Make it exciting, and most important of all, have fun with it!
4.)Host a simple New Year’s Eve Dinner Party
If you are planning to spend New Year Eve at home you can host a fun New Year Eve dinner party. It can range from super casual to a little bit dressy and anywhere in between. (You could even do fun theme parties!) There are a couple of things you need to keep in mind if you’re hosting a New Years Eve party at your home.
- Set the mood a day before. Get everything ready so you can enjoy the New Year’s Eve as well
- Make everything festive and sparkly.
- Make sure you have plenty of champagne on hand. So, you can have a big toast for 2018!
Regardless of what you end up serving, make sure you have something to nibble on before the main course. Using these simple tips you can spend a perfect New Year’s Eve with your friends and family at home
5.)Do What Matters Most to You
Don’t take any pressure on New Year’s Eve. What matters at the end of the day is you and what you like. If you need to turn off your cell phone so other people can’t reach you, do it. Then, you don’t have to read other people’s text messages, or social media posts. Instead, you can have some quality time at your home with family.
It’s time for you to do things you like. If you want to try something new, here are some examples. Improve your home, have a dance-off, cook a fancy meal, or just prepare your journal for the New Year! This time is about you, you can do whatever you want and share it with your loved ones.
6.)Go to Church with your Family
Technically, it’s not a New Year’s at home idea, but if you want to feel good spiritually it’s an idea. Although not a religious holiday, New Years Eve is an opportunity to put the past behind us and look forward to new beginnings. If that puts you in the mood for spiritual reflection, check out local Churches for late night services.

Whatever you decide to do, just make your evening social media free. Remove the pressure to broadcast your life and focus instead on getting ready for a New Year!
